During
Soviet times in Lithuania a 'spa holiday' was a world away from
what we would imagine today. There were no fluffy white robes
and disposable slippers, no calming music or scented candles
- we're talking sanatoriums. Up sprang huge monstrous sanatoriums
that were more about medical procedures than pampering. It was
common for Soviet workers to be sent on holiday to these resorts
in order to ensure the well-being of the workforce and their
families.
Perhaps it is this extreme spa experience that has shaped the
Balts into serious spa fanatics, not least the Lithuanians.
These days it is about beautifying, relaxing, detoxing and pampering
both body and soul (you'll be pleased to hear!) and there are
some splendid spa centres and spa hotels where you can get away
from it all. The main spa town in Lithuania is Druskininkai,
a 1.5 hour drive south of Vilnius. A pretty town nestled away
in the forests of the Dzukija national park, where you can enjoy
modern, professional spa treatments in a beautiful environment.

After
3 nights staying in a comfortable hotel in the Old Town
of Vilnius, our driver will take you to Druskininkai
where you will spend 4 nights in a 4* hotel; relax in
the spas, enjoy the surrounding countryside, or visit
the nearby famous Soviet statue park of Gruto Parkas.
On your final day, private transfer back to Vilnius
airport for your flight home.
