"Thank you Baltics and Beyond for holiday arrangements
to Lithuania that went like clockwork. You introduced us to
a country so full of culture and history. It was amazing.
Everything you planned, accommodation, travel, transfers,
places to see was first class. We would love to see more of
the Baltic countries and are already planning our next trip!"
Mr & Mrs Procter, May 07
Most people ask " Where is it?" we say "Where
would we be without it?" Lithuania has been our home and
our inspiration. It is a unique place that holds an air of openness
and rouses curiosity.
In Vilnius, the capital city, life still revolves around the
attractive Old Town with the beautifully restored Baroque churches,
the magnificent Cathedral, museums and galleries, craft stalls
lining the cobbled streets. A visit to the KGB museum provides
a very moving experience, so too the TV Tower where the people
of Vilnius demonstrated in their fight for freedom from Soviet
rule. Vilnius today is a quirky and artistic city, easy to discover
on foot, with numerous cafes and restaurants with excellent
food and often live music. So many visitors fall under the spell
of Vilnius, experience it yourself with a Vilnius
city break.
Beyond Vilnius there are vast areas of rural landscape with
unspoilt lakes and forests, tranquil villages and a coastal
region of outstanding beauty. The pretty resort town of Druskininkai
in Dzukija national park provides the ideal retreat for a spa
break,
perfect to combine with a visit to Vilnius.
Discover the countryside and unwind with a stay in a country
cottage, farmstead or guesthouse. The landscape
is perfectly suited to many activities including canoeing, cycling,
fishing or visiting working farms, this makes an ideal family
holiday option.
Explore Lithuania on a self-drive
discovery tour; enjoy a pre-planned route with
pre-booked accommodation, be your own boss, enjoying the sights
en route. Follow river valleys dotted with castle ruins, visit
the unique Curonian Spit, with its fishing villages of Nida
and Juodkrante, and endless sand dunes. Back on the mainland
visit Klaipeda, and the Lithuanian summer capital of Palanga,
drive through Zemaitija regional park where traditional farming
continues today, and visit the haunting Hill of Crosses near
Siauliai.
Alternatively we can arrange a tailor-made
trip to suit your interests. We have a vast selection of accommodation
to choose from, use public transport, private drivers or car
hire, combine our destinations for a longer trip, or visit places
of personal interest to you. Our experienced Baltic specialists
are here for you.
Lithuanian memories...
stork nests high on telegraph poles, families working
the fields in the evening sun, barbecues by the lake,
sunset over the flat grasslands, villages of old wooden
houses, traditional wooden sculptures by the roadside,
spa hotels nestled in the pine trees, hot sand dunes under
your feet, a peaceful row on the lake, savouring the best
stroganoff ever along with an unrivalled view over Vilnius
Old Town, sipping cold beer by the river, fireworks over
Old Town watched from the Skybar, passing horses and carts
on the motorway, walking over the frozen lake to Trakai
castle, thick powdery snow and clear blue skies... All
there waiting for you!
