| When
is best to go? |
| Spring
(Mar-May) is quite short, lots of blossom, a renewed energy
in the people looking forward to summer, various festivals
take place, can often still snow into April, but we have
known it to be in the mid-20s in March! A pleasant time
for sightseeing, quite quiet in the resort towns, but
life definitely still goes on. Try a springtime Baltic
tour... |
| Summer
(Jun-Aug) is generally warmer than here in the UK, a pleasant
heat with a warm breeze on the coast and often short bursts
of afternoon thunder inland. The cities
and seaside resorts are buzzing with al-fresco
bars and restaurants, and these long days are definitely
the best time to explore the countryside. |
| Autumn
(Sep-Nov) shows off the best of the Baltic
nature with a vivid display of colours throughout
the forests and parks. September can be mild, cooling
off to the first snow in late November. |
| Winter
(Dec-Feb) if you like winter wonderlands (and winter
bargains!), then the Baltic region is your
place. Cold dry weather with plenty of snow and blue skies,
a quiet time to visit but everything is still open. Short
days make it a great time to explore the city and it's
cosy cafes and museums, or to take a spa
break and be pampered in the warmth. |

| What
money should I take? |
| Each
country has its own currency (see the Travel Information
section for each country) |
| |
| What
is the food like? |
| Eating
out in the region is amazingly good value. Cafes and restaurants
abound with a whole range of dishes from local and international
cuisine. Fish and pork are popular, potato pancakes and
dumplings are two favourite local dishes, comprehensive
wine lists at very acceptable prices and of course some
wonderful beers. In Belarus and Kaliningrad the restaurant
scene is slowly evolving and you can get good wholesome
local dishes for very cheap. Menus are gradually catering
for vegetarians, and there is usually something to suit
as they love their fresh fruit and veg! |

| Do
you have a printed brochure? |
| No.
We have decided not to print a brochure. As flight prices
fluctuate, new hotels open, and most of our clients enjoy
having their trip tailored to suit themselves - a brochure
soon becomes out of date. Our website is our up-to-date
information point. If you do require printed materials
then please feel free to email info@balticsandbeyond.com. |
