Minsk
to Warsaw |
For the discerning traveller who wants to get that little bit
more out of their trip to Belarus, this is ideal. Into Belarus
and out of Poland, with a variety of experiences and sights
along the way.
After exploring Minsk, the most Soviet city in Europe with it's
slowly emerging youth culture and creative spirit, venture out
for a couple of nights in a comfortable country guesthouse where
your hosts will make sure you enjoy the Belarusian countryside
and hospitality. Our English speaking guide and driver will
take you to the guesthouse, with stops enroute at the town of
Novogrudok and the imposing Mir Castle. Located in the Lida
region of Belarus, the guesthouse is well located for exploring
the region, and you will have the chance to do activities such
as rafting, horse and cart rides through the village (by sleigh
in winter!), mushroom picking, visit WWII pillboxes, or simply
relax in the sauna!
Next it's on to the city of Brest, accompanied by an English
speaking guide and driver, you will visit an Orthodox monastery
in Slonim, and the former palaces of Ruzhany and Kossovo - providing
true insights to Belarus' history and life today. As with all
main cities other than the capital, Brest is a real Belarusian
city where there is little influence from outside. Here you
can visit the awe-inspiring Brest Fortress which is a gargantuan
memorial to the Great Patriotic War (WWII), there is also the
stunning railway museum which will appeal not only to trainspotters
and Soviet history buffs!
"We
had a simply great trip which went off without a hitch,
thanks to your excellent organisation. We loved Belarus,
particularly the people and the countryside - I was
very taken with the villages"

Nearby to Brest, is the Belovezhskaya Pushcha national park
(known as the Bielowiza forest across the border in Poland).
The area is a UNESCO world heritage site, home to the last remaining
primeval forests in Europe, a rich selection of rare flora and
fauna, and the mighty European bison. It is possible to enjoy
a fascinating day trip to the park.
Departure from Brest is by train to Warsaw, a comfortable journey
and a chance to amuse the border guards with your strange British
passports. Enjoy a stay in Warsaw, cultural capital of Poland
to finish your trip and reflect on the contrasts between Belarus
and being back in the EU.
